WCCRC Board Member

Established in 1987, Westcoast offers opportunities for continuous professional learning to the early childhood community, develops resources to support best practices, and encourages the development of a thriving early childhood profession. Westcoast also supports parents in their search for quality early care and learning opportunities for their children.
This is an exciting time to join the Westcoast Board of Directors as Federal investments in a national child care system are ramping up, and BC is also developing a system for publically funded early care and learning. Child Care Resource and Referral agencies will play an integral role in this development. WCCRC has the opportunity to bring our knowledge, skills and abilities to support the development of this important system. Westcoast Board members will participate in strategic discussions regarding Westcoast's organizational growth and influence decision-making regarding our contributions towards Child Care and Early Learning in BC.
Responsibilities include: 
Attend the monthly Board meeting - currently held via Zoom - and actively participate in discussions; 
Participate on at least one committee or subcommittee of the Board (Governance, Finance, Community Relations/Fundraising, Executive Director Supervision/Succession);
Prepare for meetings by reading materials and asking questions as relevant;
Form positive relationships with other Board members and build a collegial atmosphere that contributes to consensus-building;
Actively participate in agency strategic planning and the Board evaluation activities;
Establish policy as required;
Participate in fundraising for the organization;
Secure adequate funding for the organization, Monitor Finances;
Actively participate in the annual performance review of the Executive Director;
Offer mentorship and support to incoming Board members;
Act as an ambassador for Westcoast to the child and family serving sectors and the broader community;
Keep up to date on issues and trends related to the child care and child development sectors in BC.

Skills currently being sought include: Leadership, Strategic Planning, Financial Management, Capacity Building, Fundraising, Organizational Planning, Project Management.
