West Side Family Place Play and Learn Program Volunteer

We are looking for an outgoing, caring and compassionate individual to assist with our daily Play and Learn program for families with children ages 0-6. This is a position for persons who want to contribute and engage with our community in a significant way.  Time requirement: 3 hours/week, minimum 3 months commitment. 
ORGANISATION OVERVIEW
West Side Family Place is an accessible and inclusive family resource center offering a daily drop-in program for families as well as parent education. We provide a welcoming space for parents, caregivers and young children to meet, make new friends, learn, and play. 
Our mission is to help families raise happy, healthy children and we have provided family support programs in Vancouver’s West Side for 50 years! 
DUTIES
•	Help staff set up and take down activity stations
•	Greet families warmly and assist with putting away coats and shoes
•	Interact with adults and children. You may assist with playing with children or holding a baby
•	Support a range of developmental and age-appropriate activities, indoors and outdoors
•	Maintain a clean and safe environment
Certification or Education Required
There are no specific educational requirements, however we are looking for the following:
•	Previous experience working with preschoolers, parents and caregivers is an asset
•	Ability to work comfortably with families in a cross-cultural, multilingual setting
•	Strong communications and listening skills 
•	Reliable and ability to work independently
