University Student Volunteer Arts and Curriculum Development

8 hours / monthly
6 months
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate university student or teacher with a strong interest in the arts and curriculum development.

 The primary responsibility of this role is to contribute to the creation of a comprehensive teacher's resource that will be uploaded onto the BC Teachers Federation website. You will be given credit for your work on the website. This initiative is being undertaken on behalf of the Vancouver Visual Art Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to promoting and supporting visual arts education and engagement in the community. Additionally, the volunteer will have the opportunity to collaborate with youth through the foundation's youth organization, Art Ignites, fostering creativity and artistic expression among young individuals. 

 Responsibilities 

- Collaborate with a team to develop a series of comprehensive and engaging teacher's resources focusing on arts education and curriculum development. 
- Assist in creating and organizing lesson plans, activities, and resources that align with the BC curriculum and support artistic development. 
- Collaborate with the Vancouver Visual Arts Foundation and Art Ignites to ensure the integration of youth perspectives and experiences in the resource development process when possible.
- Participate in meetings, brainstorming sessions, and workshops to contribute ideas and expertise. 
- Review and provide feedback on the content, design, and usability of the teacher's resource.
-promote the resource at teachers conferences, workshops and meetings and among your peers . 

 Qualifications: 

- Currently enrolled as a university student, pursuing a degree in education, arts, or a related field. 
- Strong passion and interest in the arts, arts education, and curriculum development.
- Knowledge of the BC curriculum and familiarity with curriculum development processes. 
- Excellent research and organizational skills
- Creativity and ability to think critically to develop innovative educational materials. 
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. 
- Previous experience working with youth and/or involvement in community arts initiatives is preferred.
