South African Film Festival - Outreach Coordinator

Are you passionate about the power of education to change the world? Put that passion and your skills to use with Education without Borders (EwB).
Who we are:
Education without Borders is a Canadian-based non-profit organization that provides educational opportunities for disadvantaged and at-risk children through initiatives in South Africa and Canada including after-school support programs in Math, English, Science, school leadership and youth mentorship.
Our key fundraising event is the nationwide, virtual annual South African Film Festival (SAFF) held in November, which presents feature films, documentaries and shorts that explore the culture, history and politics of South Africa – films that inspire, inform, and entertain. In 2024, SAFF celebrates its 14h anniversary. All proceeds from the Festival support EwB initiatives in South Africa and Canada.

The Outreach role identifies festivals, film clubs, non-profit organizations and social media groups interested in film whose values align with SAFF and are potentially a good fit to partner with SAFF on promoting a specific film and the festival in general. The goal is to increase SAFF’s profile in local communities in Vancouver and Toronto and across Canada, by attracting, engaging and inspiring new audiences. You are savvy in the areas:
- team coordination
- social media
- marketing
- relationship building
- written and verbal communication

An interest in foreign films and South Africa is definitely an asset!

Expected time commitment: 6-8 hours a month, Aug - Nov
