Volunteering for the Vancouver Polar Bear Swim is a fun and memorable way to kick off the new year, meet new people and support the longest running community event in Vancouver.

The Vancouver Polar Bear Swim is one of the largest and oldest Bear Clubs in the world. On New Year’s Day, thousands of participants and spectators gather on English Bay Beach in Vancouver to partake in this thrilling plunge into the chilly Pacific Ocean. Since 1920, the Polar Bear Dip has grown significantly with a record number 13,265 swimmers in 2025.

This event is a celebration of community ringing in the new year, including music, warming huts, food truck, entertainment on the main stage, and more!
