Nonprofit Research Volunteer: Mapping Support Services for Survivors

1-3 hours / weekly
3-6 months with opportunity to extend
SOAR Initiative Canada is seeking dedicated volunteers to assist in creating a comprehensive and diverse directory of Canadian-based charities, foundations, and nonprofit organizations that support survivors of sexual violence, intimate partner violence, and child abuse. Your role will involve researching and compiling information on organizations that provide critical services and resources in a specific province or territory. 

Responsibilities:
- Research and gather information on Canadian charities and nonprofits focused on sexual violence, intimate partner violence, and child abuse. 
- Ensure the inclusion of organizations that serve Indigenous and 2SLGBTQ+ communities. 
- Verify and organize details such as contact information, services provided, and geographic coverage.
- Collaborate with SOAR team members to ensure the directory is accurate and up-to-date.

Qualifications:
- Strong research and organizational skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- General knowledge of the broader issues surrounding sexual violence, intimate partner violence and child abuse, including but not limited to criminal justice, restorative justice, long-term healing from trauma, and systemic issues that create barriers to services. 
- Commitment to supporting survivors with mapping community resources. 
- Commitment to supporting diverse communities and advancing equitable resources.

Additional Details & Skills Required
Fluency in French and/or an Indigenous language(s) spoken by First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples in Canada is an asset.
Certification or Education Required
High school education (or equivalent) or higher.
