About Reimagine Agriculture:
We founded Reimagine Agriculture because we saw the opportunity to address pressing agricultural issues like food waste and animal agriculture that are not currently being given enough attention in Canada. The farming sector is often overlooked in the critical and ongoing conversations surrounding waste and climate change. As agricultural waste and demand for meat, dairy, eggs, and other products of animal agriculture continue to grow worldwide, their contributions to the already dire effects of climate change will worsen. Applying our expertise to these critically overlooked issues, Reimagine Agriculture is committed to reducing the negative impacts of these systems, building the changes in Canada that are needed throughout the world.

We accomplish these goals through the primary use of education through knowledge mobilization, building alliances, and policy change. This can be in the form of presentations to various age groups and organizations, national campaigns with democratic engagement, and working with related stakeholders. Our focus is on being effective, using evidence-based reasoning and meeting people where they are. Our team is a small group of dedicated individuals and friends who are working together to make strategic and operational decisions for Reimagine Agriculture. Learn more about us at reimagineagriculture.org.

What we are looking for in you:
-Ability to research, interpret, and understand scientific literature on sustainable agriculture, food waste, our food systems climate impact, etc.
-Strong editing and referencing abilities
-Familiarity with scientific literature editing and writing
-Ability to take scientific literature and data and convert it into layman’s terms for the general public’s understanding
-Strong organizational skills
-Positive attitude and growth mindset
-Knowledge of issues in agriculture including food waste and animal agriculture
-Ability to work independently and remotely

What the commitment looks like:
-Regular bi-weekly meetings (every 2 weeks)
-Working independently with the ability to collaborate, brainstorm, and strategize with team and meet deadlines when required
-Independent researcher and writing projects completed on a regular basis based on the organization’s needs
-Fully remote from anywhere in the world!

It is important to us to have a team member who has a strong understanding of these agricultural issues and a passion to address them. Applicants should be open-minded and thoughtful. It is absolutely not necessary to be vegetarian or vegan for the position (and may even be an asset as that is the primary population we work with).

To apply:
Interested individuals can send an email to volunteers@reimagineagriculture.org with a few paragraphs explaining why they’re passionate about these agricultural issues, what they think they can bring to the position and an attached resume

Please answer these following questions in your email:
1. Why are you interested in volunteering for Reimagine Agriculture? What makes you interested in the organization?
2. Can you describe your interest in research and relevant skills and experiences?

The deadline is MAY 21st, 2022
