Climate Emotions Volunteer Facilitator

5 hours / monthly
-
We are looking for university-aged volunteers from across Canada to help facilitate the Climate Emotions project between January and April 2024. This role is perfect for motivated, engaged youth with a climate-related background who enjoy facilitating and engaging youth in meaningful and empowering conversations.

This role will allow you to engage with youth across the country, expand your knowledge on the subject of climate emotions, and hone your facilitation skills. The role will involve 6 sessions in four months with schools from across Canada taking part in the project.

The Volunteer Facilitator will connect with the teacher beforehand to ensure that they have all of the relevant materials and are ready for the session. The facilitator will then attend the session and help facilitate dialogue between the two schools and ensure the smooth running of the session overall. You must be able to attend the sessions and actively engage with the students and teachers in a supportive manner. Lastly, the Volunteer Facilitator will meet with Break The Divide team members throughout the project to keep them updated and ensure that the Climate Emotions project is a meaningful experience for all involved.

More About: Climate Emotions; A Break The Divide Program

In recent years, there has been a growing awareness of the effects of the climate crisis on mental health and wellbeing. This awareness has come with the desire to better understand, work with and communicate about climate mental health and the emotions we are feeling.

BTD Climate Emotions aims to contribute to the growing awareness of climate mental health and to support youth in understanding and working with their climate emotions. Through the Climate Emotions programme, our focus is to create a safe space where youth can share their emotions, learn about the intersections of climate and mental health, and connect with other communities.

Lastly, we want to encourage youth to create action-driven projects that will help students work with their emotions to combat the climate crisis.
