Virtual Volunteer with SaskAbilities

1551 North Railway St W, Swift Current, SK, S9H 5G3 [map]
1-2 hours / weekly
One-time only term
At SaskAbilities, we believe in working together to provide innovative programs and services to meet the individual needs of those experiencing disability. If you love a challenge, have special talents or hobbies to share, and have a passion for improving people’s quality of life – we would love to have you join our team by volunteering virtually with us from your home.

Due to COVID-19 and the necessary safety protocols, SaskAbilities has had to largely adjust our programming from in-person and community-based programming, to primarily distanced, remote programming; however, as we have learned, virtual programming has proven to be a valuable alternative to face-to-face programming at this time, and through regularly scheduled Microsoft Teams meetings and activities, we have been able to continue to meet the needs of our participants.

Through virtual tours, classes, socials, birthday parties, coffee groups, game groups, and more, our staff have successfully adapted our programs to an online format which continues to provide effective social, educational, and entertaining benefits to our clients.

This is where you come in--we are looking for ways to reconnect with the community here in Southwest Saskatchewan via online presentations from people like who who have skills, talents, and knowledge to share. Throughout the course of the COVID-19 outbreak, our program staff has offered an array of different presentations, including fitness classes, music events, knitting and crochet, dog therapy, and games (such as cribbage). In addition to activities like these, we are inviting volunteers to speak to our clients on things like diet and nutrition, sports stories, informational 'how to's, historical or traveling stories or tours, food around the world segments, career exploration, and more!

Whatever it is you are passionate about sharing, whether it's business advice, leisure and wellness tips, an interesting hobby, etc.---we'd love to hear from you!
