Grant writing can be a fast-paced position full of exciting challenges. 

Give for Good is looking for a volunteer to support them with researching funding options and completing the application process. This is an exciting opportunity to learn more about how you can give back to your community and support a good cause. This volunteer position will challenge you to search for government grants and improve your problem-solving skills in determining which funding Give for Good can qualify for. 

Grant writers may work on several projects at once under tight deadlines. Government policies and online submission processes change frequently. The availability of funding also fluctuates, so grant writers must develop a diversified network of funding organizations. Though challenging, grant writing can also be personally and professionally rewarding.

Nonprofit organizations / registered societies like Give for Good have distinct purposes and operate independently from the government. They support numerous and diverse causes, from the environment to human rights. Grant writers use their skills to secure funding for these causes.

Grant writers prepare grant proposals, beginning by performing research. To develop their proposals, grant writers familiarize themselves with an organization's programs, goals and financial needs. After compiling all the information, they need, grant writers compose and send their proposals.
Researches grand and sponsorship opportunities that meet the unique needs and align with the values of the organization 
Prepares proposals by determining concept, gathering and formatting information, writing drafts, and obtaining approvals
Coordinates requirements with contributors and updates proposal status information in review meetings
Writes, revises, and edits drafts including executive summaries, conclusions, and organization credentials.
Meets proposal deadline by establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering, writing, review, approval, and submissions.
Maintains quality results by using templates; following proposal-writing standards including readability, consistency, and tone
Improves proposal-writing results by evaluating and re-designing processes, approach, coordination, and boilerplate.

This position requires creativity, as well as the ability to use data-driven insights to write strategic proposals. The successful candidate should also be detail-oriented and committed to meeting tight deadlines. Outstanding grammar and research skills are essential for grant writers. Preference will be given to those with a strong writing portfolio and relevant work experience.

Education: bachelor's degree in communications, English, professional writing or a similar field.
