Big Brothers Big Sisters- Prince Albert

We build the capacity of our community by empowering young people facing adversity. We have been matching youth in Prince Albert for over 45 years and continue to make a positive difference in the lives of youth and their volunteer mentors. We have a variety of volunteer opportunities to fit your interests and schedule. For as little as one hour a week you can make a big difference in the life of a young person in Prince Albert

Big Sisters and Big Brothers
• Typically meet weekly to participate in fun, low-cost activities in the community with their Little Brothers or Sisters
• Minimum time commitment is one year

Big Siblings
• We welcome Mentors of all genders identities and sexual orientations. If a Mentor feels uncomfortable with being gendered (Big Brother or Big Sisters) we have created a gender neutral term to encompass our traditional matches.
• Typically meet weekly to participate in fun, low-cost activities in the community with their Little Siblings
• Minimum time commitment is one year

Couples for Kids
• Matches a married or common-law couple to one or two children
• Couples must have been together for a minimum of a year
• Typically meet weekly to participate in fun, low-cost activities in the community with their Little Brothers or Sisters
• Minimum time commitment is one year

SCHOOL BASED PROGRAMS

In-School Mentoring
• Matches Mentors to students in grades 1 to 6 to meet during school hours.
• Spend 1 hour per week playing board games, arts & crafts, baking, going to the gym, playing on the computers, or just talking
• Volunteers are asked to commit to the end of the school year

Go Girls! (for female-identified individuals) and Game On (for male identified individuals)
• Matches Mentors to children 11-14 years in a group setting
• The group address the topics of active living, balanced eating, and feeling good through games, self-reflection, and group discussion
• Volunteers must commit to co-facilitating at least one 7-week session
