Help is needed: Mask Sewing
People in your neighbourhood need your help.
As part of enhancing LYC’s programs and services, it is essential to recruit and retain volunteers who have a genuine willingness and desire to help people whom are faced with mental health challenges. Volunteers enrich the lives of clients by providing support and guidance through a collaborative, client-centered and person-directed approach. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about their interests and want to share their knowledge. Mentorships are not just about skill development but also about developing a connection and friendship with their mentee and connecting them more with the greater community and developing new opportunities. This is a great opportunity for you to share your skill, knowledge and develop a mentorship with a person who can benefit greatly and enhance their knowledge base and skill level. We can work around your schedule and develop a mentoring plan that works for everyone!
Being a peer mentor is a great way to meet new people, especially if you are new to an area. It strengthens your ties to the community and broadens your support network, exposing you to people with common interests, neighborhood resources, and fun and fulfilling activities. You will learn how to provide support for individuals who live with mental illness. As part of the screening process, you be paired with a resident who has similar interests and hobbies.
