470 Queensway Ave, Kelowna, BC, V1Y6S7 [map]
2-3 hours / weekly
Ongoing
The person at the front desk is the welcoming face that greets and assists visitors to the museum.
At the front desk, the volunteer will welcome visitors giving them a little bit of general information about our galleries and main spaces, as well as activities and programs. The person in this position will also make sure that visitors don't come into the galleries with food, beverages, big backpacks or pets.
The front desk work also entails taking donations for the museum, recording visitor numbers, answering phones (giving specific information or transferring calls), supervising the museum galleries, assisting visitors with any inquiries they may have, and taking payment for gift shop purchases.
Additional Details & Skills Required
The training is very basic and involves the regular front desk procedures as well as an introduction to the museum main areas and activities.
Why should you volunteer for this opportunity?
Volunteers working in this position get to talk to visitors and give them all the information they need during their visit to the museum. They are also the people who get first hand comments from the public about the exhibits, programs and the services we offer. They get to know about the way the museum works and are in touch with other areas of the organization.
Volunteers can practice their communication, organization and team work skills.
