Position Summary: Become a bingo volunteer and bring joy to seniors receiving supportive and memory care. This engaging role involves helping our Rec team organize and facilitate bingo games that provide our residents with entertainment, social interaction, and mental stimulation. Your efforts will contribute to a lively and happy atmosphere, positively impacting their daily lives. Responsibilities: Game Support: Ensure bingo games are accessible to residents. Assist residents with special needs, offering gentle support to ensure they can fully participate in the games. Companionship: Foster a friendly and inclusive environment where residents feel valued and supported. Activity Preparation: Set up and maintain bingo equipment, prepare game cards, and ensure all necessary materials are available. Help porter residents to the bingo game area. Group Engagement: Encourage participation and interaction among residents, promoting a sense of community and camaraderie. Expectations of Volunteers: Be reliable, punctual, and trustworthy. Respect confidentiality and the rights of the residents. Approach interactions with a non-judgmental attitude. Be open to accountability and constructive feedback. Qualifications: Enthusiastic and energetic with a passion for working with seniors. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to create a fun and engaging atmosphere. Patience and empathy in interacting with residents of varying abilities. Previous experience in a volunteer or caregiving role is a plus, but not required. A vulnerable sector check and proof of COVID-19 vaccination are mandatory.
