Social Stride Incident Reporter- National Recruitment

While we are located in Alberta, this posting is available to volunteers across Canada.

Social Stride aims to address issues of hate and discrimination by providing education, countering misinformation, and supporting and amplifying victims' voices. Our vision is to create a healthier online environment by modelling peace and dignity. Volunteers will be part of a national network of incident reporters and report on and monitor social media events. We will be having regular meetings once a month. 

Social Stride Incident reporters will: 

Work with social stride advocates by informing the team of instances of misinformation or hate incidents on social media

Monitor social media platforms in order to inform the team of social media trends etc

Occasionally work with social stride advocacy team to brainstorm suggestions on how to combat online hate

*Volunteers should have access to a smartphone and to social networking platforms* Volunteers should be available for occasional training on social media platforms. 

Volunteers will receive training on hate incidents and hate crimes and protecting their mental health when supporting others. There would also be training on the use of the app. 


Training for this program is ongoing on a casual basis.

Social Media Advocates volunteers would also gain skills in data gathering for qualitative and quantitative research as well as skills in documenting materials for cases and working as part of a team. Volunteers would engage only online. Volunteers would have the opportunity to network and connect with like-minded young people across the country.
