* This is open to all Canadian residents, as it is a solely remote position. 17th municipality and the 2nd largest municipality in Canada to become a Fairtrade Town on September 26, 2013. A permanent committee was struck to promote continued growth in the awareness, availability and consumption of Fair Trade products in Edmonton. On June 15, 2016, the committee became a Registered Society with the official name of Fair Trade Edmonton Council. We are a volunteer-run organization that aims to be a reliable resource for individuals, businesses and associations interested in Fairtrade or Fair Trade and a respected promoter of Fair Trade in Edmonton and Alberta. VOLUNTEER POSITION -Fair Trade Educator (remote) What we are looking for: We strive to promote the awareness and adoption of Fair Trade. One way in which we want to do this is through online education. We are looking for a volunteer that loves fair trade and wants to spread the word! As a Fair Trade Educator volunteer, you will be the lead in educating current volunteers and the public on fair trade. Deliverables/Duties: - Provide training on fair trade for volunteers - Deliver Fairtrade presentations/webinars to the public - Create new presentation decks if needed - Plan and coordinate webinar dates and connect with guest speakers when applicable - Communications and coordination with other volunteers - Option to join a 2-hour bi-monthly meeting Expected time commitment is about 4 - 6 hours every month. With an option to join a 2-hour bi-monthly meeting with the Steering Committee. The initial orientation session is expected to take about 1 hour. Qualifications: - Strong knowledge of fair trade and Fairtrade International is required - Have public speaking and educator experience - Comfortable with technology and video conferencing tools - A passion for ethical consumerism!
