Meal Time Enhancement Volunteer

1-2 hours / weekly
1x week for 3 months
Meal time is about more than just hunger! 
*Sensory Pleasure: Very important tie of the day for residents. Provides a sense of comfort through familiar foods.
*Control and Dignity: promotes independence through both deciding what to eat and feeding themselves as much as possible (sense of accomplishment).
*Companionship & Belonging: Provides a sense of belonging with people who are familiar. It is important to have meaningful communication with volunteers, staff, and other residents.

The times listed below simply outline mealtimes and when help is needed.

Breakfast: 8:45a.m.-10:00a.m.
Lunch: 11:45a.m.-1:15p.m.
Dinner: 4:45p.m.-6:00p.m.
Additional Details & Skills Required
Proof of double vaccination for COVID19 is required. At present (Fall/21), we are only accepting volunteers over the age of 18.
Certification or Education Required
Volunteers are required to watch a training video, followed up by the Registered Dietician or Occupational Therapist to ensure understanding and answer any of the volunteers questions (Loving Spoonful).
