CANAVUA (Canadian Volunteers United in Action Society) recruits volunteers for other non-profit organizations in the community in need of helping hands. We are currently looking for volunteers to work at the casino fundraiser of our partnering organization, FrancoMusik Alberta, on Thursday, November 12th and Friday, November 13th, 2020 at Pure Casino Edmonton (7055 Argyll Road). All of the regular casino volunteering positions need to be filled:

• Chip-runners;
• Count-room volunteers;
• Cashiers;
• Back-up volunteers.

Chip-runners are responsible for carrying chips between the back room and the gaming tables on the casino floor. Count-room volunteers add up all the money collected to see how much was raked in each day. Cashiers pay out guests as they leave, exchanging their chips and vouchers for cash. Back-up volunteers may serve in any of the above roles if a scheduled volunteer should be unable to attend due to an unforeseen emergency and will be contacted one hour before they're needed.

FrancoMusik Alberta is an organization whose mandate is to support professional singers and promote music in Alberta's French-speaking community. They singlehandedly created three of our province's most significant annual French-language cultural events: FrancoFusion, Polyfonik and ChantOuest.

Non-profit organizations depend on casino fundraisers to generate the funds necessary for their continued operations. Casino fundraisers, in turn, depend on committed volunteers. As a volunteer, your service would be indispensable in helping FrancoMusik Alberta to run a successful fundraiser. If you've ever been inside of a casino in Alberta, you've likely noticed the "Charity Cashier" section where patrons are paid out. These booths are always manned by volunteers supporting non-profit organizations. Gaming in Alberta benefits charities and non-profits like FrancoMusik Alberta year-round.

Accordingly, volunteer commitment is imperative for events such as these. We ask all volunteers to ensure that they'll be available during their planned shifts to ensure that the fundraiser runs smoothly.

We are looking for volunteers for the following shifts. Feel free to pick a shift that best suits your schedule when applying:
