People in your neighbourhood need your help.
The Family Support program provides essential emergency and ongoing supports to help families living in poverty meet their daily basic needs, improve their quality of life, and provide their children with a brighter future within an outreach support model. Volunteers will be supporting the program by creating food hampers which will be delivered by Family Support Workers. Volunteers will also help to sort and organize our Family Closet, The Family Closet provides families with clothing and supplies for their children. Responsibilities • Create food hampers • Maintain tidiness of the family closets • Ensure clothing and basic needs supplies are organized and sorted COVID-19 Considerations • Volunteers will be asked health screening questions when they arrive for their shift • Volunteers will be asked to sanitize their hands upon arrival • Volunteers will maintain a physical distance of 6 feet (2 meters) from others • Volunteers will be provided with a mask and gloves to wear during their shift Time Commitment • Two shifts per month until December 31, 2020 • Shift times: Monday to Friday between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. To Apply Visit our website and complete on online application form bissellcentre.org/get-involved/volunteer/ Want more information? Training • Orientation to Bissell Centre • On-the-job training provided by supervisor or program staff
• Will develop or further enhance an understanding of the impacts of poverty and limited access to resources. • Gain experience in community programming and it’s impacts.
