TREASURER POSITION Autism Independent Living Association (AILA) has a vision where we will build an intentional supportive housing community for those on the autism spectrum. Our mission is to support adults on the autism spectrum with moderate needs develop to their full potential by providing person-centred care needed to live independently in the community. Our objectives are to: To enable individuals with ASD to develop to their full potential To enable individuals with ASD to live independent and satisfying lives as part of a community To find appropriate, safe and affordable housing AILA is looking for an enthusiastic volunteer with a passion for finance to join our board of directors. Directors adhere to policies and bylaws in coordinating sound ethical and legal governance, financial management practices for the organization, including approving the annual budget, and ensuring the organization has sufficient resources to achieve its mission. Requirements: Be an adult with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or a supporter of an adult with ASD. Commitment to the work of the organization. Willingness to serve on committees and help with recruiting support workers and or agencies. Attendance at monthly board meetings. Attendance at meetings of assigned committees. Supports advocacy work of other board members, and helps with establishment of and creation of needed community supports by providing leadership. Attendance at Annual General Meetings. Attendance at membership meetings. Support of special events. Support of, and participation, in fundraising events. General duties: Serves on the Executive Committee. Obtains signing authority with the bank. Keeps full and accurate accounts of all organizational receipts and disbursements. Reviews and banks all monies due to the organization. Disburses all monies as directed by the Board. Prepares and monitors overall budget. Files the annual return, amendments to the bylaws and other incorporating documents with the Corporate Registry.
Although we are seeking candidates with a specific financial skillset for this position, the successful candidate will share roles and responsibilities with the remaining board directors. Training on board roles will be provided.
