Project Based Video/Sound Editor

Ongoing
The Aquatic Biosphere Society of Canada is behind the development of the Aquatic Biosphere Project, a planned legacy attraction that presents the “Story of Water” to visitors, via a public conservation aquarium, educational centre and research facility. As an eco-tourism hub, visitors will explore the life that lives in, on and around water, understanding the connections of water, biodiversity, and humanity both here and around the world. The project is in the development and funding stage.

The Society is seeking an individual to join our team as a volunteer with skills in video and sound editing for video production within our media division. These videos are generally educational in nature, informative and some corporate productions. Ranging from 1 - 90 min, the raw footage needs to be stitched together, cleaned up and title cards added. Sometimes animation is created for inclusion as well.

If you have an inherent interest in digital media storytelling, if you have a bit of spare time for managed projects, and if you are looking to support education and environmental concerns, then we are interested to meet you. The organisation works remotely and all communication tools are online. You can view some of our content on www.ABN-Stories.Earth but we have a backlog of content that needs some help to get it live.

We value candidates who are passionate about the project and who bring a new perspective and creative ideas. There are many aspect and levels of engagement to be excited about, to share and build on. If you are interested to help continue the growth and success of this project, we would like to meet you. Be part of the 'Story of Water' with us.

(Note: We have recently had a name change (Nov 2022) and you may see the Society still referenced as 'Aquarium Society of Alberta' in some places. We are working through the transition and appreciate your understanding while this progresses.)
Additional Details & Skills Required
You will be added to our online project management system to coordinate projects, information and discussions.
Why should you volunteer for this opportunity?
If you are looking to build and expand your skills in video/sound editing for your career goals, you will have a variety of projects to work on to expand your skills. You will be contributing to the creation of published works, and included in credits for all projects you work on. Your contribution will support an important facility for public education messaging on water and biodiversity. This is a rare legacy building opportunity to be involved in.
