Friendly Visitor

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
This is an on-going, weekly volunteer position which aims to provide a resident encouragement and emotional support by Engaging in mutually enjoyable and agreeable activities.
TASKS MAY INCLUDE:
•	To alleviate isolation, loneliness and depression by providing a friend who will assist in activating social and communication skills.
•	Provide companionship and friendship.
•	Participate in activities which are of interest to the resident such as: shopping, playing
cards/games, crafts, reading aloud, writing and mailing letters and conversation. If possible, plan a short walk around the facility if applicable
•	Porter/accompany residents to and from activity area
•	Initiating and encouraging resident in participating in AGCCC Recreation Department activities to make use of their abilities.
•	Supporting, encouraging and valuing clients/residents
•	Following direction of staff
