Community Visitor Volunteer - Calgary Zone

A Community Visitor volunteer will meet with a client who is isolated and has expressed interest in having a “Friendly Visitor”.  The volunteer and client will participate in social activities together such as, reading, writing, going for walks, discussing current events, reminiscing, having tea/ coffee, or playing cards/word games.
The purpose of this position is to enhance the quality of life for AHS home care clients through volunteer companionship.

Responsibilities include: 
•       Completing the necessary orientations and training for Home Care volunteers
•	Setting up a mutually agreed upon day and time for visits with the client, consistency is ideal
•	Documenting and reporting volunteer hours and activities on a regular basis
•	Notifying Volunteer Resources staff of any changes in behavior or client concerns
•	Abiding by the visitation policies laid out by Volunteer Resources
Additional Details & Skills Required
Must be able to provide 2 professional references.
Certification or Education Required
All volunteers will receive the AHS and Home Care specific orientations.  
Training and policy guidelines for this role will be provided. 
Palliative Volunteer Training Course will be provided to Palliative Volunteers when applicable.
