Knight’s Cabin is a national registered charity committed to research and healthy outcomes for people living with and recovering from cancer. The Knight’s Cabin Board of Directors meets monthly and functions as an operational board, helping to run the day-to-day operations of the organization with volunteer teams across Canada. We are seeking a Treasurer who shares and believes in the vision for Knight's Cabin as a behavior-change, research-based organization that delivers wellness retreats. Responsibilities include: - Chairing and preparing agendas for the Funding and Finance Committee - Keeping full and accurate accounts of all receipts and disbursements of Knight’s Cabin (the “Organization”) in proper books of accounts - Depositing all monies and/or other valuable effects in the name and to the credit of the Organization in the bank account of the Organization as designated by the Board of Directors - Disbursing funds of the Organization under direction of the Board, as required, and taking proper account of these transactions - Regularly reporting to the Board, monthly and as requested, on the status of the account, upcoming credits or debits, and the overall financial health of the Organization - Managing the finances of the Organization, including the Board’s review of and action related to, financial responsibilities - Regularly reporting to the Board on key financial events, trends, concerns, and overall assessment of fiscal health of the Organization - Providing an annual budget to the Board for the Organization’s members’ approval - Reviewing budgets for events being held by the Organization - Ensuring development and Board review of financial procedures and systems - Recommending to the Board whether the Organization should have an audit - Assisting in the selection of an auditor, if needed, and meeting with him/her annually - Attend monthly Board meetings via Skype - Supporting fundraising activities of the organization
Financial background is required (i.e. bookkeeping or accounting experience in a current or previous job) A professional accounting designation is an asset, but not a requirement
