Outreach/Marketing Team Volunteer

1-6 hours / weekly
Minimum 6 months, or ongoing
Canadian Voices Against Racism (CVAR) is building a database of police brutality and police killings in Canada as a means to advocate for deep structural change. Since a complete database does not currently exist, we believe our database has the potential to become a powerful tool to petition lawmakers to dismantle racist, discriminatory, and oppressive laws and practices that disproportionately target Black, Indigenous, and racialized communities.

As we continue to conduct our research into police brutality and police killings, we are also continuing to create content and conduct research into current events and stories to share with our followers on our social media platforms. As we know, there are always new and important discussions to be had, petitions to sign, and events to organize and attend. That is why we are currently looking for someone who would be interested in volunteering their time to our community organization to keep up with everything going on and keep our followers informed and engaged.

As a volunteer on the Outreach Team, you will be writing content (Instagram captions and blog posts for the website) on various social justice topics that align with our values, creating the graphics for our social media platforms, brainstorming new topics to discuss and researching new initiatives or collaborations to partake in. You will also help drive our campaigns by calling, emailing, or mailing local officials and candidates to encourage them to support policy changes that we have identified as integral to our mission - or to denounce those that are not.

You can find more information about who we are, our mission and our vision on our website www.canadianvoicesagainstracism.com
