Volunteer Delivery Drivers delivering Food Bank food hampers to households within Calgary, AB

Help support households in Calgary encountering food insecurity.

Immediate need for weekday volunteer Food Bank hamper delivery drivers on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday mornings.  Occasionally, we are asked to deliver curbside pick-up groceries to households.

 Food Bank hamper pick-ups and deliveries will be the majority of deliveries incorporated into this program on an as-needed basis, and volunteers can self-schedule online.  Hamper deliveries are confirmed in the late afternoon the business day beforehand.

COVID-19 

-COVID-19 no contact protocols will be in place whenever possible and volunteers will be expected to wear cloth face coverings/masks when in close proximity to others, have personal hand sanitizer within their vehicles,  and also abide by all protocols for everyone's safety.


Police Information and Vulnerable Sector checks (PIC) no older than 6 months old are mandatory.   City of Calgary Police PIC applications are applied for and processed online. Once volunteers are accepted to this program, we will provide guidance on obtaining a no-cost PIC.  

GENERAL INFORMATION:
All delivery locations change weekly, this is a general guideline.

Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays:  pick-up at the Food Bank Main Depot (5000 11th St SE) between 8:30 and 10:30, usually delivering to NE or NW households, and some SE households such as Forest Lawn/Forest Heights, Marlborough, Abbeydale, occasionally it's switched-up to various NW neighbourhoods and Bowness, but deliveries can be any quadrant of the city.

Tuesdays:  pick-up  at 9:30 at the Centre St Church West Campus,  usually delivering to a variety of NW neighbourhoods and Bowness.
Additional Details & Skills Required
No training required.

Must have the physical ability to  lift and carry a week's worth of groceries per household to the entrance of a residence.  Larger households will have a lot more groceries to transport.  General practice is for volunteers to deliver to more than one household at a time.

Preference is to recruit volunteers whom have a personal cell phone that has the ability to take photos and send photos via email when required.
Certification or Education Required
Valid Drivers' License and a reliable vehicle with current insurance and registration.

Police Information Check that is less than 6 months old.
