At Starlings Community, we are dedicated group of volunteers made up of passionate peers and fierce allies supporting youth by providing vital knowledge, resources and support systems to help youth overcome the stress and stigma associated with a parent’s substance use. 

We are seeking dedicated volunteers with relevant personal and professional experiences to join our mission and make a positive impact.

Volunteer Opportunities:

	•	Peer Mentorship: Provide guidance and support to youth, drawing on your own experiences to help them navigate their challenges. Your insights can offer hope and direction to those who need it most.
	•	Marketing and Social Media: Assist in raising awareness and promoting our initiatives through various platforms. Your creativity and communication skills can help spread our message and engage the community.
	•	Grant Writing: Help secure funding to sustain and expand our programs. Your expertise in writing and fundraising will ensure we can continue to provide essential services to youth in need.
	•	Counseling: Offer professional support to youth, helping them cope with their unique circumstances. Your clinical skills can make a significant difference in their emotional and mental well-being.

Ideal Candidates:
We are looking for individuals who:

	•	Have lived experience with the stress and stigma associated with a parent’s substance.
	•	experience working with youth and/ or young adults 
	•	Possess relevant experience connected to the role

By volunteering with Starlings Community, you will play a crucial role in our innovative organization by empowering youth, strengthening the ecosystem
Of support surrounding youth and their families, reducing stigma, and fostering healing. Our volunteers are the backbone of our organization, and your contributions will directly impact the lives of young people in Canada.
Certification or Education Required
Requirements vary based on position, such as:

Peer mentorship lead: peer support training
Grant writer: Grant writing experience
Counselling: Masters in Counselling/ Social Work, or Psychology with relevant experience
