Patient Advocate

Are you caring, empathetic, compassionate, have health care experience, and looking for a way to make a difference in the lives of others?

Open Arms Patient Advocacy Society is currently recruiting for Patient Advocates to join our team! We are a not for profit Alberta organization who advocates with families and patients to help them obtain information where unanswered questions may remain with respect to their treatment within the health system.

As a patient advocate you will assist and support clients and families who have a medical complaint due to issues experienced within the health system. You will provide advice and assistance to them in finding honest and transparent answers from Alberta Health Services or the applicable governing body. You will work with committee members to facilitate change in government policy to ensure that everyone is given adequate attention and excellent care when experiencing health concerns.

This position provides the flexibility for an individual to set their own hours; training will be provided for this position and the volunteer will be supported by an experienced team of Patient Advocates.

An ideal candidate will have health system experience, be looking to make an impact in their community, and enjoy working with a diverse group of people.
