Shelter Helper Volunteer - Women's Shelter

The Mustard Seed Women's Shelter provides emergency shelter, food and clothing for up to 60 women experiencing homelessness. Shelter Helper volunteers work together as part of a team to ensure all guests have access to day-to-day essentials including hygiene and clothing items, laundry access, clean bedding, etc. Your role involves assisting with day-to-day operations, providing compassionate care, and helping create a safe and welcoming environment for our guests.

Responsibilities:
- Welcome and assist female guests with check-in procedures and provide information about shelter services.
- Help organize and distribute clothing and personal care items to meet the needs of female guests.
- Support staff by running laundry facilities for guests staying at the shelter.
- Help distribute meals, snacks, and beverages to guests.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in common areas of the shelter.
- Engage with guests respectfully, offer a listening ear, and provide support and empathy as needed.

Available Shifts:
Mondays 5pm - 9pm
Wednesdays 9am - 1pm
Thursdays 9am - 1pm
Thursdays 5pm - 9pm
Sundays 9am - 1pm
Time Commitment: volunteers must commit to 1 set shift per week for a minimum of 4 months. 

Volunteer Requirements:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must have completed a volunteer agreement form.
- Must have completed a Police Information Check with VS check. 
- Must be approved by Mustard Seed staff.
