Knight’s Cabin is a national registered charity committed to research and healthy outcomes for people living with and recovering from cancer. We run healing retreats for survivors and caregivers where they receive research-based and practical health behaviour education on physical activity, nutrition, stress management, and sleep. Our end goal is to help prevent secondary disease, recurrence, and create lasting positive health habits. We are looking for a Grant Writer to join our team to help us make a bigger impact in the lives of cancer survivors across Canada by allowing us to fund future projects. We are in the process of developing new and exciting programs that will build a supportive community and we are seeking support for our Funding Committee. You would help research, prepare, write, and edit grant proposals. This position offers flexibility and the opportunity to work creatively. The Knight’s Cabin team will always be available to work with you and provide direction and collaboration as needed. Time Commitment: Approximately 2-3 hours per week Responsibilities: • Research potential funding sources from local, provincial, and federal grants and through corporate giving programs. (we have already created a list you can use/add to) • Work with Fund Development Team to obtain necessary information for proposals/grants and applications. • Write Grant Applications. Qualities & Skills: • Excellent grammar and written communication skills. • Strong organizational and time management skills. • Self-motivated and detail-oriented. • Non-profit fundraising and professional writing experience is considered an asset, but not necessary. • Previous experience in grant writing is considered an asset, but not necessary.
