Help is needed: Mask Sewing
People in your neighbourhood need your help.
Safta's (meaning grandmother's in Hebrew) Kitchen is a program centered on building connections through food and nourishing the soul through relationships. The aim is to decrease social isolation through active intergenerational volunteerism and improving quality of life through the sharing of stories and food. While we had planned to cook together in community kitchens, COVID-19 has other plans for us! We will be gathering beloved recipes from seniors and delivering meal kits to other seniors who wish to recreate the meal! Meal Kit Delivery Volunteers will pick up the meal kits from our office and deliver to seniors' homes. The meal kit will include the recipe, ingredients, a story from the senior who provided the recipe, local resources for seniors, and other fun items such as letters from Calgary's youth.
We ask that volunteers: *be willing to obtain a Police Information Check with a Vulnerable Sector Search *demonstrate a desire to create community and connectedness *have access to a clean and reliable vehicle
Connect with your community in a meaningful way! Play a key role in reducing feelings of isolation and loneliness among older Calgarians!
