About Us: In 1997, Inn from the Cold was started by a small group of passionate Calgarians who were determined to change the lives of individuals experiencing homelessness. Since then, the Inn has become Calgary’s largest family emergency homeless shelter. We also provide affordable and supportive housing, and offer prevention and diversion support. Piano Instructor Volunteers are responsible for: • Leading piano activities through exciting/engaging home videos • Providing beginner tips/tricks on piano playing skills • Teaching music theory, and helping students with memorization and improvisation techniques • Motivating students through encouragement • Building supportive relationships and engage with families/students through videos • Ensuring the confidentiality of any document, client information, or communication regarding the Inn and its guests is maintained • Communicating regularly with shelter and/or the health and wellness team Videos can be as short or as long as you want - just have fun! Piano Instructor Volunteers have/are: • Punctual and reliable • Professional experience in their field of work • Outgoing, engaging, and comfortable taking initiative • Effective communication and organizational skills • Comfort and ease in a leadership position • Experience working with a marginalized population is an asset If this position interests you, please click the following link to apply: https://innfromthecold.org/take-action/volunteer/
