Hakili Community for Sustainable Development is a non-profit organization born in Calgary in 2016. We work within our communities to tackle the complex problem of poverty in Canada but also all around the world. We address intergenerational poverty and identify creative and sustainable strategies to promote economic mobility.

In support of the organization's leadership, Hakili is seeking a passionate individual to join our board of directors. In collaboration and partnership with the  Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and executive committees,  the board members shall oversee the implementation of the strategic plan in pursuit of our vision and mission.

Responsibilities and expectations include but not limited to 
•	Periodical review of the organization's strategic and organizational plans, performance and programs.
•	Exert financial oversight and management.
•	Fundraising and resource development.
•	Development and promotion of programs, services and membership.
•	Actively participate in the development of the organization through attendance to events and board meetings.
•	Maintain confidentiality about all internal matters.
•	Serve on a minimum of one executive committee and undertake special assignments effectively.
•	Provide moral and professional support, and be available as resources, to the ED.
•	Be familiar with our mission and vision, strategic and operating plans, and programs.
•	Contribute and adhere to our policies and code of conducts
•	Keep up to date on developments in and affecting the non-profit sector; specifically, but not limited to, those pertaining to poverty reduction and economic development. 
•	Ensure compliance with legal and ethical considerations, and maintain accountability and transparency to members, funders, donors, other constituents and the general public.
Certification or Education Required
Hakili is looking for professionals with experience/Education and interest in social work and social justice, economy, communications and political science.
