Famous 5 Foundation

Canadian women lack equal representation, treatment and opportunities.

Right now, the gender gap is improving, but not quickly enough. At the current rate of progress, it will take 228 years to reach an equilibrium.

The Famous 5 Foundation (F5F) was established in 1996 to celebrate the work of 5 important persons in Canadian history. In 1997, we were registered as a not-for-profit, charitable organization, and have been celebrating and inspiring women to break through barriers ever since. We’ve changed anthem lyrics, erected statues and even succeeded in getting the Famous Five women on Canada’s 50 dollar bill.

In order to address the systemic issue of under-representation and lack of female leadership throughout the country, we focus on women's and girls' leadership development. We prepare girls to be leaders through programs and enhance leadership conversations with speakers who share personal insights.
