Create Kids Fest is recruiting Board Volunteers responsible for the governance of the organization, planning and executing activities throughout the year, strategic planning, financial oversight, and policy development.

Create Kids Fest hosted it’s inaugural festival in 2019, presenting over 20 artists and art organizations, across 2 venues to the Calgary Community. Family friendly, fuss-friendly, accessible and multi-generational, the initial success of the festival sparked the creation of a non-profit society governed by a volunteer Board to expand our reach into the Calgary community.

Create Kids Fest Values
•	To create, develop and implement arts festivals for kids and families in Calgary.
•	To ensure that the festivals and programs put on by Create allow children to experience the arts in a comfortable environment.
•	Strive to provide art experiences that are accessible for all children in Calgary.
•	To provide educational experiences for younger generations to learn about event production and art creation to develop a life-long appreciation of the arts.
•	Develop opportunities for intergenerational community building, cultural awareness and emotional intelligence through art experiences.

Vice Chair Essential Duties and Responsibilities
•	Carries out  mission/objective of the board; ensures a functioning board that is effective in governing the association
•	Participates in the preparation of the Board’s meeting agenda
•	Acts in absence of Chair
•	Acts as a signing officer
•	Assists any director as needed to meet their board objectives
•	May chair committee(s)
•	Oversees special projects
•	As a board member: approve annual budget, audit reports, and material business decisions; being informed of, and meeting all, legal and fiduciary responsibilities.
•	Must be a member of the Executive Committee

Qualifications
•	at least 2 years experience or equivalent on a board
•	at least one prior term on Create's board or as a committee member
Additional Details & Skills Required
The Vice Chair can expect to attend a monthly Board Meeting, approximately 2 hours long, in addition to spending 2-3 hours per week overseeing Create Kids Fest projects. Our Vice Chair will have to serve on a committee or in another position of the Board for a year. Training will be provided.
Certification or Education Required
At least 2 previous years experience, or equivalent, of serving on a Board of Directors.  At least one prior term on Create Kids Fest's Board or as a committee Member (we will offer an opportunity to train into this position).
