Help is needed: Mask Sewing
People in your neighbourhood need your help.
We are accepting applications for those interested from Calgary and Lethbridge in joining our Reconciliation and Diversity Circle. We recognize ourselves as treaty people and as a mainstream agency also recognize that our work with indigenous people and others must include cultural safety. Our circle meets monthly and we are committed to research and responsive action to benefit those that use our programs as we strive to meet our mandate to provide safe and caring environments for women and men with alcohol and other drug dependencies. The Circle has the potential to provide insight and strategies toward understanding Cultural Competency and Cultural Safety...Cultural Competency: An approach that focuses on practitioners’ attaining skills, knowledge, and attitudes to work in more effective and respectful ways with Indigenous and people of different cultures....Cultural Safety: An approach that considers how social and historical contexts, as well as structural and interpersonal power imbalances, shape program developments and delivery experiences. We meet monthly on zoom and Circle member participation often determines our working agenda.
Background in addiction and mental health, indigenous and diversity issues including homelessness and marginalization.
