Team Manager

Did you know that every year 1 million children are identified with a developmental disability? The Team Manager is an accountability leader of 12 volunteers in Marketing/Public Relations and Fundraising Committees. An effective and successful Team Lead brings about transformation in a Team; inspires movement aligned with the mission; does whatever it takes for the Team to achieve targets; works closely with their superior, a Director of the Board. The volunteer must demonstrate the ability to create added value to the organization (e.g., profitability, measurable advancement), raise the bar, perform under pressure, and produce exceptional outcomes. 

Responsibilities include 1- Regular and as needed one-on-one and Team communications, 2- Ensuring targets are hit. Having an ease and proven results in managing Teams, leadership strategy, and strong and open communication with Teams and superiors are required.

The change you will bring with your volunteering is raised sustainability for the cause, while also facilitating relief, hope and empowerment to families living with a child at risk for or who has a disability, through co-creating a results-driven Team culture.

Time Commitment: 30- to 60-minute meetings are held by telephone or video-conferencing on a bi-monthly basis, and weekly for one-on-one support with individual Team members. Weekly electronic communications in between meetings are also used using WhatsApp, text messages. Email is rarely used, and in person meetings are held quarterly, or a minimum of three times per year. 

The time commitment per year is about 2 hours per week. Scheduling is flexible. A long term part time mandate is preferred. Letter of reference and attestation of hours worked available upon request.

A minimum assignment of 12 months is suggested, with the potential for renewal.
Additional Details & Skills Required
Excellence in leadership.
Extensive experience in managing Teams of about 10 volunteers in Canada.
Proven results in team accountability strategies.
Proficiency in strategically using different effective communication means.
Excellence in trouble shooting during development, design, testing and project launch.
Written and verbal reporting to the superiors.
Certification or Education Required
Degree in Management, Leadership or equivalent is preferred.
