Treasury Advisor

Calgary, AB: in person, by telephone or by video-conferencing, Calgary, AB, T2H 0K2 [map]

One-year term (renewable)
The professional Treasury Advisor has at least 10 years of Canada-based accounting/finance experience, and advises the Board in accounting and finance matters. Applicants must have a professional portfolio in accounting and treasury with Canadian charitable organizations knowledge and experience, and philanthropic work. *This position is not a bookkeeping role.*

Main Responsibilities:
1- Proposing a Treasury Strategic Plan with accounting and finance structures and processes including short and long term deliverables/KPIs for mission sustainability, in compliance with the Income Tax Act;
2- Advising the Finance Committee on the implementation of the plan, ensuring deliverables are met on time;
3- Advising the Treasurer and the Board on treasury matters.

Requirement: Having a minimum of 10 years experience and training in Canadian treasury such as accounting or finance, and preferably in charitable organizations, is required.

Time Commitment: 
Email and phone communications are used as needed. Meetings are held periodically or minimum quarterly, for 30 to 60 minutes typically by video conference. AGMs are held usually in March for 3-hours either in person or by video conference (optional attendance). The Board meetings are held quarterly for 1 to 2 hours in person or online (optional attendance). 

The minimum time commitment is a one-year mandate. Scheduling is flexible. A long term part time mandate is preferred (renewable). Letter of reference and attestation of hours worked available upon request. Board directorship is an option. If interested in being a Director or Officer of the Board, let us know!
Additional Details & Skills Required
Excellence in advising in matters of Charity treasury.
Long-term experience in Canadian-based Accounting/ Finance and other growth strategies.
Proficiency in advising on Accounting/ Finance strategic plans. 
Excellence in communication and advising.
Certification or Education Required
Canadian trained Chartered Public Accounting or equivalent degree;
Extensive treasury experience in Canada required;
Charity treasury and finance experience preferred
