SUMMARY
Bright Lights for Africa is a Canadian registered charity and non-governmental organization, whose vision is to empower marginalized and vulnerable individuals through acts of love, compassion, and generosity, regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, or gender. We serve both local and international communities and focus on tackling root causes of poverty to create sustainable and lasting change in the lives of those we serve.

Our organization is growing, and we are seeking individuals who will be passionate about our mission and vision and apply their skills to meaningful work that advances our short- and long-term goals. 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Be passionate about BLFA’s mission and vision and act as an ambassador for its 
  programs in your sphere of influence. 
- Contribute to the development and advancement of BLFA’s programs and initiatives in 
  Canada and DR Congo (Africa).
- Actively seek opportunities, partners, potential sponsors, and donors in your 
  community to support fund development and initiatives to advance BLFA’s mission.
- Provide your skill sets to support strategic and organizational planning for BLFA.
  Work with other board members to assess the performance of key BLFA areas 
  (Financial Health of the organization, Community impact etc.)
- Attend and actively participate in all board meetings (6 per year) 

COMMITMENT
 - 2 years term, 2+4 hours/month.

SKILL SET AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 3 years professional work experience in areas including but not limited to 
  governance, human resources, finance, Information Technology, International 
  development etc. 
- Past or Present experience as an active member of a board (preferred, but not 
  required)
- Possess passion for development work and a support for our mission and vision.
- Possess strong leadership skill
- Possess strong communication skill
- Possess strong networking skill
