Advisory Committee Member
Bright Lights For Africa is a Canadian registered charity and non-governmental organization, whose vision is to empower marginalized and vulnerable individuals through acts of love, compassion, and generosity, regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, or gender. We serve both local and international communities and focus on tackling root causes of poverty to create sustainable and lasting change in the lives of those we serve. We are currently seeking skilled professionals to join our Advisory Committee. This is an exciting volunteer opportunity to apply your specialized skills, knowledge, and experience to drive BLFA’s vision. Currently, we are seeking Advisory Committee Members with professional experience in the following areas/sectors: International Development, Food and Nutrition, Health and Wellness, Child Development, Education, Non-profit Management, Community Engagement, Fundraising, Grant Administration and Marketing, Social Services. The general responsibilities of the Advisory Committee will be as follows: - Act as a subject matter expert (based on your skillset and experience) on BLFA’s Advisory Committee. - Contribute your skillset, knowledge and ideas to shape the development of sustainable initiatives that transform communities and empower individuals in Canada. - Actively participate in all Advisory Committee meetings and be passionate about driving the committee’s objectives to realize success. - Be passionate about BLFA’s mission and vision and act as an advocate of its initiatives in your sphere of influence. - Build positive relationships with other members of the committee, ensuring an inclusive approach to work. - Review, evaluate and provide input on BLFA program policies and procedures and provide expert input to transform initiatives, ensuring that they advance BLFA’s vision. - Other duties as assigned that seek to advance and support BLFA’s mission, vision and initiatives. Requirements: - Minimum Bachelor’s degree with 5 or more years of experience in one or more of the following areas: International Development, Food and Nutrition, Health and Wellness, Child Development, Education, Non-profit Management, Community Engagement, Fundraising, Grant Administration and Marketing, Social Services. **combination of education and experience will be considered. - Ability to communicate fluently in English, both verbally and in writing. Bilingualism (French) is considered an asset. - Excellent networking abilities, with experience fostering relationships that will benefit the organization. - Highly dedicated professional with a positive attitude towards work. - Ability to work collaboratively in a team. - Passion for voluntary work. Experience volunteering with a non-profit organization is considered an asset. As an Advisory Committee Member, you will have the opportunity to contribute your expertise and ideas to important BLFA initiatives. This role requires active participation in meetings, collaboration with other committee members, and a commitment to achieving the goals of the committee and organization.
