Alberta Dance Theatre (ADT) provides an outstanding and unique program to dancers in grades 2-12 in Calgary through an intense 12-week program where dancers engage in a creative process alongside professional dance artists. It is through this educational experience that dancers not only learn to create choreography and gain performance training, but also develop skills such as creative problem solving, healthy risk taking, collaboration, and leadership. Alberta Dance Theatre is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of parents of dancers in the youth company and people dedicated to elevating youth in the arts. We are currently seeking a Fundraising Director to brainstorm, organize, and help implement creative fundraising initiatives. We are looking for someone with fundraising and Board experience, great communication skills, and who is available on Sundays from September to November (this is when the families meet). Being flexible, having knowledge of AGLC, raffles, and Canada Helps is an asset. Parents of ADT participate in all fundraising initiatives. The Fundraising Director is responsible for working closely with the Board, Artistic Directors, and Administrator to communicate fundraiser details to the families and answer any questions they may have. The Fundraising Director will be in charge of a fundraising committee to organize the completion of tasks with. The Fundraising Director will work with the Artistic Directors to establish ambitious fundraising goals, and the Administrator to make sure that all funds raised are tracked accurately and clearly.
The new Fundraising Director will be trained and supported by the Board of Directors in their role. There is a monthly Board Meeting that is roughly 2 hours and usually held on Sunday mornings. We hope the Fundraising Director will attend the annual production performed by the young company at ADT.
To offer our annual season, ADT relies on ambitious fundraising efforts, government funding, corporate sponsors, and individual donors. Every idea the Fundraising Director helps us implement positively affects youth dancers in the Calgary area, and continues the 40 year long tradition of ADT providing family friendly, affordable entertainment.
