Volunteers will be the first to support residents at AgeCare Skypointe, Calgary's new 15-bed Hospice. AgeCare SkyPointe Hospice is a unique community that offers high quality, compassionate, person-centered care in a culturally rich and diverse community. Our vision is to provide a home-like environment that offers a peaceful and supportive atmosphere for end-of-life care. In hospice, we treat the person rather than the disease and focuses on your quality of life, surrounding you with a team of professionals who help manage your pain and symptoms as well as your emotional and spiritual wellbeing. Volunteers will be the first to support residents at AgeCare Skypointe, Calgary's new 15-bed Hospice. The in-person role will include ongoing training and professional development supported by the Hospice Volunteer Coordinator. Experience with long term care or end of life is preferred for roles supporting hospice residents and families. If an applicant has experienced the loss of a loved one in the past year we encourage involvement with an AgeCare Recreation Program prior to transitioning to the Hospice Volunteer Program to afford a period of remembrance and transition. Flexible shifts during weekdays, evenings, and weekends will be available. Training requirements include a 2-day training session during a few weekends (likely by Zoom) in mid-October unless an applicant has successfully completed this training in the past 2 years.
