ARK is looking for Grant Writers to join our team. Do you like storytelling? Do you want to make a tangible impact with a child and their family? We have an opportunity for you! We are looking for volunteer Grant Writers to support the Fund Development Team. You would help research, prepare, write and edit grant proposals. This opportunity offers plenty of flexibility and creativity and to take parts of a project and make it your own. Accessibility Renovations for Kids (ARK) is a Calgary charity, whose goal is to ease the daily lives of children with mobility challenges by renovating or modifying their family home to make it more accessible. Grant researchers help ARK make a greater impact to more kids by allowing us to fund more projects. The ideal candidate is a gifted writer that can can showcase ARK's mission and successes to potential funders. Funding opportunities are distributed amongst the Fund Development team and applications are put together by the writers. Previous experience in grant writing is considered an asset, but not necessary. Time Commitment: Approximately 3 hours per week Responsibilities: • Research potential funding sources from local, provincial, and federal grants and through corporate giving programs. • Work with Fund Development Team to obtain necessary information for proposals/grants and applications. • Write Grant Applications. Qualities & Skills: • Strong organizational skills, time management and internet research skills. • An ability to work well under pressure; self-motivated and detail-oriented. • Non-profit fundraising and professional writing experience is preferred. • Computer skills. • Strong work ethic. • Committed and takes volunteerism seriously. • Last but not least you must be willing to have fun because volunteering with us is awesome. * Candidates should be located in Calgary or Southern Alberta.
