ARK Residential Renovation Coordinator

ARK is seeking a Residential Renovation Coordinator to support the nomination committee and project committee teams. You will help plan and execute renovations for families that have children with mobility challenges. The cost of the required renovations is often out of reach for some families.   

Accessibility Renovations for Kids (ARK) is a Calgary charity, whose goal is to ease the daily lives of children with mobility challenges by renovating or modifying their family home to make it more accessible.  

Time Commitment: Approximately 2-4 hours per week during planning;  more hours as needed during the reno execution phase.

Responsibilities include:
- Participate on the nomination committee to evaluate and rank nominations.
- Assist with development of scope of work for the renovations incorporating accessibility requirements.  If appropriate, participate in a site visit with the clients Occupational Therapist to understand the clients’ challenges and needs. 
- Contribute to the development of the execution strategy for each renovation.
- Contribute to the development of the budget and cost estimate.
- Assist with selection and award of contracts.  Our execution strategy is to obtain donated materials and services for 50% of the value of the renovation.
- Assist with obtaining donated materials and services.
-Opportunity to help with some of the onsite work (eg framing, tiling, installation of drywall sheets).
-  Participate in prejob meetings  with contractors and the reno recipients.
- Confirm all permits are applied for and obtained (building permits, condo board approvals, …..etc)
- Arrange for volunteer waivers to be signed onsite.
- Provide regular finance and progress reports to the board and the treasurer.
- Contribute to the development of tools and processes to manage the renovations (eg; Prejob safety list, tracking spreadsheets…. etc)
- Arrange for photographs to be taken at key stages of the renovation.
- Inform the communications lead on the completion date so media can be arranged and scheduled.
- After each renovation participate in a project debrief to evaluate what went well and what can be improved for future projects.
- Ensure all documentation is filed. 
- Uphold ARK Vision, Mission and Values. 
- Adhere to Agency policies and procedures for client and volunteer confidentiality. 
- Submit volunteer hours to Volunteer Director designate by the 3rd of each month for inclusion in monthly statistical reporting.

NOTE:  - Some daytime availability is required as these renovations will take place over a period of 2-4 weeks during the day.
             - Candidates should be located in Calgary or Surrounding Areas.
