ARK is looking to add a Project Director to its board. Accessibility Renovations for Kids (ARK) is a Calgary charity, whose goal is to ease the daily lives of children with mobility challenges by renovating or modifying their family home to make it more accessible. We are seeking a Project Director who can take the lead on current and upcoming renovation and construction projects. Help us reshape their lives! Time Commitment: Approximately 2-4 hrs/week; more during renovations. Responsibilities: - Acts as Project Director on ARK board of directors. - Lead the Project Committee to plan and implement renovations in line with the agreed scope and resources. - Participate on the nomination committee to review and assess applications for renovations. - Ensure permits and licenses are obtained from appropriate authorities. - Oversee the project team to ensure renovations are implemented safely, to code, on schedule and within budget. - Perform routine site visits to monitor construction and renovation progress. - Identify project risks and develop and implement a contingency plan. Requirements & Skills: - English as a primary language. - In-depth understanding of construction procedures and material and project management principles. - Attention to detail with strong organizational and planning skills to make decisions. - Strong communication and interpersonal skills. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. - Previous residential renovation experience and knowledge. - Resident of Calgary or surrounding areas.
