Our mission is to deliver STEM literacy and foster curiosity in interconnected subject areas such as science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). STEM Canada caters to students from preschool to high school, preparing them to lead in global science and technology innovation. Start Date: January 6, 2025 Time Commitment: 2–6 hours per week Job Description: As a Urology Teacher Assistant, you will play a key role in assisting instructors with delivering lessons on urology and the urinary system. You will help students explore topics such as kidney function, urinary tract disorders, and surgical interventions. Your role will include creating and managing educational materials, assisting in virtual lab exercises, and ensuring an interactive learning environment. Responsibilities: • Assist instructors in delivering lessons on urology topics, including the anatomy and physiology of the urinary system, kidney functions, and common urological conditions such as UTIs, kidney stones, and prostate disorders. • Support the development and execution of virtual labs, case studies, and practical scenarios to enhance student understanding of urological practices. • Monitor student participation and provide individual support to reinforce learning and improve engagement with complex medical topics. • Help prepare and organize class materials, ensuring all resources are up-to-date and aligned with lesson objectives. • Encourage interactive discussions on urology-related medical issues, fostering a deeper interest in the subject. • Provide feedback and assess student understanding through quizzes, assignments, and in-class participation. • Facilitate the use of online tools and platforms, offering assistance when needed to troubleshoot any technical issues. Qualifications: • Pursuing or holding a Bachelor’s degree in Urology, Biomedical Sciences, Physiology, or a related medical field. • A solid understanding of urology, including the anatomy and physiology of the kidneys, bladder, and urinary tract. • Ability to communicate complex medical topics clearly and effectively to students of various age groups. • Experience with digital teaching platforms (e.g., Zoom, Google Classroom) and other educational tools. • Previous experience in tutoring, mentoring, or assisting in an educational environment is a plus. • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities to support lesson planning and classroom activities. Requirements: • Recent Vulnerable Sector Police Clearance Check. • A reliable internet connection and a computer with video conferencing capabilities. • Passion for teaching and sharing knowledge about urology and medical sciences.
