Our mission is to deliver STEM literacy and foster curiosity in interconnected subject areas such as science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). STEM Canada caters to students from preschool to high school, preparing them to lead in global science and technology innovation. Start Date: January 6, 2025 Time Commitment: 2–6 hours per week Job Description: As a Pediatrics Teacher Assistant, you will play a critical role in supporting instructors as they teach students about the field of pediatrics, focusing on the healthcare of infants, children, and adolescents. You will assist in lesson delivery, prepare educational resources, and foster a virtual learning environment that promotes curiosity and a deeper understanding of child healthcare. Responsibilities: • Assist instructors in teaching core concepts of pediatrics, including child development, pediatric diseases, and preventive care. • Help design and facilitate interactive activities, such as case study analyses and simulated patient scenarios, to enhance students' practical knowledge. • Provide guidance and support to students as they explore pediatric healthcare topics, offering individual or group assistance when needed. • Organize and maintain virtual teaching materials and resources to ensure alignment with course objectives. • Support instructors in grading assignments, providing constructive feedback to students to encourage improvement. • Facilitate discussions on the importance of pediatric healthcare, ethical considerations, and advancements in child medicine. • Assist in managing online teaching tools and ensuring the smooth operation of virtual classes. Qualifications: • Pursuing or holding a Bachelor’s degree in Pediatrics, Medicine, Nursing, Biomedical Sciences, or a related healthcare discipline. • A strong foundation in child development, pediatric care, and common pediatric illnesses. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students. • Familiarity with virtual teaching platforms (e.g., Zoom, Google Classroom) and digital learning tools. • Prior experience in mentoring, tutoring, or educational assistance is an advantage. • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail in an educational setting. Requirements: • Recent Vulnerable Sector Police Clearance Check. • A reliable internet connection and access to a computer with video conferencing capabilities. • A passion for teaching and nurturing interest in pediatric healthcare among future STEM professionals.
