Our mission is to deliver STEM literacy and foster curiosity in interconnected subject areas such as science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). STEM Canada caters to students from preschool to high school, preparing them to lead in global science and technology innovation. Start Date: January 6, 2025 Time Commitment: 2–6 hours per week Job Description: As an Orthopedics Teacher Assistant, you will support instructors in educating students about orthopedics—the branch of medicine focused on the musculoskeletal system. Your role will involve assisting with lesson delivery, creating engaging educational resources, and inspiring students to learn about bones, joints, and their care. Responsibilities: • Assist instructors in teaching core topics in orthopedics, including anatomy of the musculoskeletal system, bone health, and common orthopedic conditions. • Help develop and implement interactive activities, such as case-based learning, diagnostic simulations, and treatment planning exercises. • Provide additional support to students in understanding orthopedic topics and conducting research assignments. • Prepare and organize virtual teaching materials, ensuring alignment with curriculum objectives. • Collaborate with instructors to grade assignments and provide detailed feedback for student improvement. • Facilitate discussions on advancements in orthopedic technology, surgical procedures, and injury prevention. • Manage digital learning tools and platforms, ensuring smooth operation during virtual sessions. Qualifications: • Pursuing or holding a Bachelor’s degree in Orthopedics, Medicine, Nursing, Kinesiology, Biomedical Sciences, or a related healthcare discipline. • Strong knowledge of the musculoskeletal system, orthopedic care, and rehabilitation methods. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective student engagement. • Familiarity with virtual teaching platforms (e.g., Zoom, Google Classroom) and related tools. • Prior experience in mentoring, tutoring, or educational assistance is an asset. • Strong organizational skills with an ability to maintain detail-oriented resources. Requirements: • Recent Vulnerable Sector Police Clearance Check. • A reliable internet connection and access to a computer with video conferencing capabilities. • A passion for teaching and fostering interest in orthopedics and musculoskeletal health among students.
