Volunteer - Gastroenterology Teaching Assistant

Location: Remote Time commitment: 2 to 6 hours per week STEM Canada is a registered not-for-profit global program specializing in an advanced, STEM-based educational curriculum emphasizing the interconnected subject areas of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). The STEM program is open to all students from preschool to high school with the mission to deliver top-notch STEM literacy and application, designed to teach students in the STEM fields, yielding globally competitive results. Position Overview: The Gastroenterology Teaching Assistant supports faculty in teaching courses related to the gastrointestinal system, assisting students, and enhancing their understanding of key concepts. Key Responsibilities: • Teaching Support: Lead discussion groups, facilitate review sessions, and assist with course materials related to gastroenterology. • Grading: Assess assignments and exams while maintaining accurate performance records. • Student Assistance: Offer support to students in understanding gastrointestinal anatomy, physiology, and pathology. • Content Preparation: Assist in developing study guides, quizzes, and other learning materials. • Engagement: Foster a supportive learning environment to ensure student success. Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Medicine, or a related field; graduate students in medical or biological sciences are preferred. • In-depth knowledge of the gastrointestinal system and related physiological processes. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. • Prior teaching or tutoring experience is advantageous. • Ability to make complex concepts accessible and engaging for diverse audiences. • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
