Social Media Coordinator

Are you a Marketing or Communications student or recent graduate? The Stem Montessori Academy of Canada is looking for an enthusiastic volunteer Social Media Coordinator. Working closely with the Marketing Team, the Social Media Coordinator will take the lead on SMAC’s online presence, help spread awareness of STEM, and share information on our programs and initiatives. This is a remote position within Canada. The STEM Montessori Academy of Canada is a federally registered not for profit regional science technology engineering and math (STEM) program open to all students with the mission to deliver top-notch STEM literacy and application. The STEM program educates students from preschool to high school. SMAC will specialize in an advanced, bar-none STEM-based educational curriculum that emphasizes the interconnected subject areas of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Our successful volunteers have these characteristics: - Self-directed and Motivated Learner - Research answers and questions independently, but know when to ask for assistance - Shows initiative within competence limits and seeks means to fulfil areas for improvement - Flexible, confident and respectful to others - Passion for education - Enthusiastic and exemplifies a good work ethic - dedicated and committed - Great at planning, organization, leadership and teamwork and time management Duties & Responsibilities: - Manage all social media pages for SMAC (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) - Develop content to recruit and engage new volunteers and potential students - Share information of programs and new initiatives within the SMAC network - Engage personal network to develop potential partnerships and sponsorships - Attend virtual meetings with Marketing and HR Team Requirements: - Marketing or Communications student or recent graduate - Superior social media skills, understanding, and knowledge of digital trends - Ability to work alone and in a team environment - Exceptional communication and writing skills - Must be able to come in to the virtual office at least once per week for 2 hours What’s in it for you? - Flexible remote schedule - Volunteer hours - Social Media and Marketing experience and network opportunities - Job reference letter (if required) - On the job training and experience in the field Location: Remote Start Date: As soon as possible * This volunteer opportunity is fully remote, however, you are required to attend our virtual office during your volunteer time We are strongly committed to equity and diversity within our community.
